Description
This course is designed to prepare middle level and secondary preservice teachers to support adolescent literacy skills in the classroom through best practices in the science of reading. This course will emphasize the theoretical foundations of reading and writing and develop preservice teachers understanding of reading and writing instruction, ability to appropriately assess students' reading and writing skills, and create literacy instruction based upon assessment results. Upon completion of this course, students will understand the principles of evidence-based reading and writing processes and the methods for promoting students' literacy development.
